We had a chance to look around at all of the old jerseys and the awards the All Blacks and other great teams have won over the years. I know we all learnt so much from the tour we were given, and I think Parents and teachers were more interested in asking questions to the guide than the children :).
Did you know: The first rugby ball was made out of a pigs bladder (blown up). They had to be extremely careful with the ball, as it could easily pop (that is why they put a rubber/leather case over it). It is also another reason for why the rugby ball is not a circle. The pigs bladder was not a perfect circle, and harder to catch, which is why the rugby ball has the unusal shape.
Did you know: The first ever New Zealand Rugby jersey was blue, made off wool ,and had a gold fern hand sewn onto it (all of the jerseys were not the same blue either they had to bring their own).
We also had the chance to have a go on some equipment they had in the museum. We had a go at sprinting, kicking, tackling, scrumming and jumping in a line out. It was so much fun for the children AND PARENTS!
Room I had a great day and learnt so much :)
This was really fun I didnt do very well on thew scrum machine though. I miss being in room I and all the activities we did.
