foxton Beach trip!

What an AMAZING day! The children and I really enjoyed the Foxton beach day.

I just would like to say a HUGE thank you to all of the parents who transported children to and from foxton. The day would have not been a success without your help throughout the day.

Throughout the day we participated in a range of activities with the surf life savers.

We had a discussion about keeping safe in the sun, learnt about the gear in the gear shed, raced on the beach for the flags, learnt about keeping safe on the beach and how to identify rips and even had a wonderful swim in the sea!

It was just an overall great day and we ALL LOVED IT!

More Photos from Enviro Day!

Here are some more photos of our Enviro Day.

We were able to spend time in the school nursery in the afternoon- this was A LOT of fun.

A URGENT NOTE:
If ANY parent is interested in gardening and the environment Incredible Room I would love your help. We need some lovely workers to oversee children working in the garden and to help us weed out the garden for the new school year. Please let Miss Kyle know if you are available to help. We would really appreciate your help J

ENVIRO DAY!

On Monday the 13th Feb Incredible Room I had lovely Mrs Cowan come into our classroom and share information about the environment with us. We learnt how what our environment was, how to look after it, and what M.S.S was doing to help keep our environment clean and safe.

During the day we completed a range of different activities. Some of these included group brainstorms about what an environment was, lists of what certain jobs in our school involve, visiting our class garden and discussing as a group certain ideas. We even got to visit the school nursery and see what made it special.

Here are some of the photos from the day.

Mathematics- Term One

The focus for term one has been Statistics.

We are learning about:

-Bar Graphs
-Stem and Leaf graphs
-Dot Plots
-Tally Charts
-Pie graphs

Here is some of the work we have been working on in Incredible I.

The Thinking Tank!

Here is Incredible Room I's Thinking Tank!

This tank contains many fish cards, which all have questions on them to allow the children to think deeply about life and some ideas they may already be familiar with.

The children go to the Think Tank when they have completed all learning tasks in the classroom. These tasks allow them to constantly be thinking about new ideas and developing the deeper thinking skills needed in inquiry thinking.

What Incredible Room I has been up to...

The end of week two has just occured and we have completed so much work in such a small amount of time.

I am so proud of the children in the class who have been working to such a HIGH standard with not only their content, but also on the presentation!

Here is some of the AMAZING work Incredible Room I has been working on:

Our inital artwork! We learnt how important it is to be unique and what problems occur in the classroom because we are all different. We had some great discussions which linked well into our inital letter artworks. These are all individual and represent all the children in Incredible Room I!

The class Treaty! This was a fun, but serious task. The children created guidelines for the behaviour expected in the classroom at all times. They decided on the critera for this and have shown their agreement to this by marking their handprint and signing their name.

Our birthday balloons. These ballons show all of Incredible Room I's birthdays over 2012, so we can celebrate the special day for all children.

I have had a great week with the children and I am getting to know them so much better :).

You are all AMAZING learners and just neat kids Room I! I am a lucky teacher...
