It's Turbo Time!

Turbo Visit

On Friday the 31st of August we had yet another sportsman visit us! The whole school lined up outside the hall to see who it was. It was the Turbos! Except there was four of them! That was a surprise! We all got ask questions, ranging from do they eat Weetbix? And what positions they play? They were all answered. They gave us tips on what to expect if you are going to be a professional sportsman. It was a very enjoyable day. Here are some photos from the event…

Simon's Surprise Visit

Simon’s Surprise Visit

On Thursday the 30th of August we had a surprise visitor it was Simon Von Velthooven! Simon was a Olympic athlete and won bronze in the track cycling. Andrew had written to him to come and visit us and not only did he come but so did his bronze medal. It was passed around to have a feel, it was really heavy! Children got to ask him any questions they were wondering. Here are some photos from the day…
Thanks Andrew!

On Friday the 17th of august we had to dress up in green for our term 3 Enviro Action Day. I thought that it was not COOL but AWESOME because we didn’t have to wear our school uniform!!!
It also showed others how much we care for our environment at our amazing school!!!

Enviro Day

Enviro day

On Enviro Day we had to dress up in green. I also enjoyed The Swap it, don’t Trash it because I swapped a Paul Jennings book for an old box of tidily winks.  Another highlight of the day was the book Miss Kyle read to us, Green Eggs and Ham.  The moral of the story was you need to try something before you get fired up a bout it and make a judgment.

Team Breakfast

SAM: I think that the team breakfast was cool because it was yummy, especially the weet-bix and the toast was good.

TYLER: It was awesome and yummy because the toast and the weet-bix were really, really, yummy and very good. And it was nice to see everyone in there pajamas.

Team Breakfast

On Friday the 3rd of August, the Senior Team had their team breakfast in the school hall. There was a theme that we could dress in PJ’s, if we wanted. When we got there we noticed that some of the teachers were wearing PJ’s too!
When it was time to eat we got food such as, porridge,
Muesli, and weet-bix. Soon after that, we got toast and scrambled eggs and we also got some orange juice and Milo. Lots of people went for scrambled eggs on toast, but some people just went for toast. While we waited for our food it sounded like a stampede of elephants.
Once it had finished we left a big mess! Thankfully Mr. Belk cleaned it up for us.

On the 17th of August, we all dressed in green and we all got a green surprise… It was lime jelly! We made a green creation and we were lucky enough to come 2nd with our green hill. The whole school looked cool in green. We all enjoyed the day. It was fun but tiring. We also went and did a swap it don’t trash it on the day. That was amazing. We all got something cool.

Swap it Don't Trash it!

Swap it don’t trash it was a wonderful occasion. Organized by Mrs Mackie, Mrs. Cowan and Miss Kyle. There were a lot of toys, books and games. It was hard to decide on what to chose and take away. The occasion was on the school Enviro Action day, which was on Friday the 17th August.

Swap it, Don't Trash it!

On Friday the 17th of August we had a Swap it, don’t Trash it day.
We had an option to bring an old toy or something we didn’t want anymore and then we could swap it for something different, which was cool. We felt really excited when we chose our object.
We love our objects!
Layton got a pink and white dog, and Zenan got a boxing gorilla.

YMCA

In Term 2 we were lucky enough to have the YMCA come in and teach us new physical skills to use in games. We played 2 sports, soccer and netball. “It was fun playing both sports and learning how to control the ball properly” said John. Floyd’s funniest bit was kicking the ball straight through the leader’s legs. During this time the class got better at throwing netballs into the hoops and controlling the soccer ball with our feet. We loved it.

The Bucket Challenge!

On Friday the 17th of August 2012 Manchester Street School had an enviro day. Everyone dressed green and each class had to create something out of a green bucket and some green materials. Some kids from room I (Kaylen , Tiana , Madison, Andrew and Gabi.) had the job of creating the green creation. They created the one tree hill. Once the whole school had voted for their favourite green creation, Room I felt special when they found out that our class creation came second!!!

Bucket Challenge

On the 17th of August it was Enviro Action day. We had the bucket challenge on this day. Our class brainstormed some ideas and decided to make a hill. We got started creating and making in a small group. Kaylen, Gabi, Tiana, Madison and Andrew had to make it in a time frame of 2 hours. After 2 hours the end result was amazing. We decided to name it One Tree Hill, and even better, we didn’t need the teachers help! After judging had finished the results came over the speaker. Room C got 1st, we got 2nd!! And Room O got 3rd. We were so happy about the results!

Disco 2012!

The disco was a huge hit! It was on Friday the 22nd of June. $1,000 dollars was fundraised. Everyone really enjoyed it, and had a lot of fun!
There were even spot prizes for the good dancers.
There was an awesome D.J playing great songs, and there were great singers in the crowd. It was a fun night and we really enjoyed it.

Green Enviro Day!

On Friday17th of August the school held an Enviro- Action Day and the theme in Room I was Green Eggs and ham. We dressed up in green clothes and ate yummy green jelly for morning tea. Part of this day was the Bucket Challenge which was when we had to create a piece of art involving a bucket, paper, and other different materials!
We as a class came up with the idea of a hill which we named ‘One Tree Hill’
Another part of this day was called ‘Swap it don’t trash it!’ which was when we brought a toy, book or game that we no longer wanted, and put it in a box for someone else. Next the box was taken into the hall to be displayed by the Enviro-Kids. People then chose the gift they wanted and took back to their classroom. Here are some photos from the day…

Team Breakfast!

What a wonderful team breakfast we had as a Senior Team. It was a VERY enjoyable morning together.

The children turned up at the school hall at 8am to share a breakfast together. Many came in their PJ’s (as this was the optional theme).

There were so many options to select from e.g. Weetbix, porridge, fruit, dried sultanas, eggs, baked beans, eggs, toast with honey and Vegemite and also cold and hot drinks.

There were seconds, and thirds, available and NO child was left hungry or wanting more!

Here are some of the photos from our shared morning breakfast…
