'Snack Time'

‘Snack Time’

The senior school team had a wonderful celebration for their Food For Thought Inquiry unit.
The children were put into groups where they had to design and create a healthy snack to share with the team. On Friday, the last day of the school term 2, we gathered together to share our wonderful creations.
Each pair rotated around the hall and each tasted 6 samples from other groups.
It was a lot of fun and the snacks that were created by the children were incredible (and yummy)!

What a great sum up for our term 2 inquiry unit! You could see how much the children had learnt throughout the unit and what truly makes a snack or type of food healthy.

Special visitor

Special Visitor

Tuesday afternoon we had a special visitor into Incredible Room I.

Geronimo Stilton came into our class to ask the children questions to see how much they knew about what he does, what he likes to do, and about his books. The children had a lot of fun answering these questions and even won prizes for answering correctly.

The children also had time to ask Geronimo questions. Some of the questions were about the food, sports and hobbies he likes playing or doing when he is not writing.

It was a lot of fun!

YMCA

Over the last 10 weeks, in term 2, Incredible Room I have had two wonderful YMCA leaders come in and work with us to teach us some more skills in Soccer and Netball.

All of the children in Incredible Room I have improved their skills and have developed more confidence in their abilities.

A big thank you to Karla and Cory for all of the work and time they put into us, we really appreciate it!

Here are some photos:

Here are some final comments from the children about the skills and techniques they developed.

Supermarket Visit

Our focus for this term has been the study of food and what we need to be eating to be and remain healthy.
As part of our unit, as a class, we had a nutritionist come in and run some sessions. Nova, the nutritionist, was able to share some information with us about the types of foods we should be eating, how much of this food we should be eating, and she taught us how to read labels.
We were able to go along to the Feilding New World and find certain products in the supermarket. On each product we recorded and identified the fat, fibre, and sugar amounts in each. It was interesting not only for the children, but for the adults involved also, as it allowed us to become more aware of the amount of fat and sugars in many of our ‘everyday’ foods.
I would like to say a big thank you to the parents who came with us on this trip, as your help was much appreciated. I am sure you got a lot out of it (maybe even as much as the children J ).

Here are some photos of the day…
